Zhaoyi Liu's Bio
Zhaoyi Liu is from Beijing, China. She began studying art from a very young age. She has been putting pen on paper and drawing the world around her since she was three years old. She has won contests before; these achievements were profoundly meaningful for her. It took a lot of her time, blood, sweat and tears. It showed her that her efforts could eventually lead to success. But because her past major is marketing, she always regarded art as her hobby. She is a very introspective person, and finds her pleasure in painting, drawing and watching 3D animation feature films. She knew her whole life she wanted to become an artist; it was the only thing she was ever sure of. Because her true passion lies in art, she finally took a big leap of faith and began doing animation that she really likes. Making animation was like meeting a long lost dear friend. In short, she has left all other career options and decided to achieve an MFA.
To enhance some experience in art, she completed her internship at Microsoft Research Asia and UCLA summer session to gain more knowledge about similar art forms. Her internships included designing an online newsletter banner, a new intern orientation PowerPoint document, a newsletter, and large Chinese Twitter pictures. Her UCLA summer session included studying digital cinematography as well as art and the technique of filmmaking. She has studied many types of art classes including Gesture & Quick Sketch for Animators, Advanced Character Animation, 3D Modeling & Animation 1 (Maya), Fundamentals of Texturing & Lighting, Preproduction, Storyboarding for Thesis, 3D Character Animation 1, Traditional Animation, Visual Effects for Animation, Advanced Graduate Animation Studio, Final Portfolio Preparation, Group Directed Study: Character Animation 1, Group Directed Study: Short Film Animation, Group Directed Study: Cinematic Animation, Perspective for Illustrators, History & Techniques of Character Animation, Acting for Animators, and Mythology for the Modern World.
